Please note this workshop is FULLY BOOKED

With artist Martin Beek

Matisse-inspired cut-out by Martin Beek

Matisse visited the Munich 1910 exhibition of Persian miniatures. Islamic design was a crucial factor in his work.

This workshop will include a short presentation on Henri Matisse’s paper cut-outs, and his working technique, followed by learning about the elements of line, composition, colour balance and simplicity that are the hallmarks of Matisse’s late works. You will develop a collage of your own inspired by the Ashmolean’ s rich collection and Matisse's inventive practices.

All materials will be provided.

This is part of our Change Makers season of events.
