With Dr Jeremy Warren, Honorary Curator of Sculpture
In the second of our Love & Poetry series of talks, Dr Jeremy Warren will discuss depictions of love and poetry to be found in the Ashmolean's world-class collection of small bronze sculptures.
Whether sacred or profane, love is everywhere in Renaissance sculpture. It can be seen in so many small bronzes, from statuettes to the small reliefs known as plaquettes, but also in utensils such as inkstands and caskets.

The talk will showcase exquisite pieces, many featuring in Jeremy's new Ashmolean book 'The Beauty of Bronze' and include works from the fabulous collection of small Renaissance bronzes assembled by the Victorian collector Charles Drury Fortnum.
The talk will be recorded, and the recording will be shared with all ticketholders following the event.
